Nic Scogna has sold at craft fairs, festivals, and trade shows since 1997: 29 years on the vendor side of the table, not the consulting side. He's run booths solo and with crews, in 10x10 tents and 20-foot trade show islands, selling everything from handmade goods to branded merchandise. He's also the author of A Vendor's Guide to Festivals and Events. This isn't secondhand advice. It's what's worked, and what's cost him money, across three decades of shows. The booth fundamentals don't change based on what's on the table: the same layout, signage, and first-contact principles apply whether you're selling handmade jewelry or booking tarot readings.

What if I don't have a booth yet / haven't done a show before?

That's fine. The session still applies. We'll build your first layout from scratch instead of fixing an existing one.

Is this in-person or remote?

Remote. It's a 60-minute video call, so you can do it from anywhere, and you get a written action plan afterward either way.

What kind of shows does this work for?

Craft fairs, festivals, farmers markets, trade shows, and holistic/wellness events: anywhere you're running a booth to sell product, book sessions, or generate leads.

I run a holistic or wellness booth (readings, energy work, bodywork), not a product booth. Does this still apply?

Yes. Layout, signage, staffing, and the first ten seconds of contact decide the outcome whether you're selling a product or booking a session. If anything, it matters more for service-based bookings, since people have to commit to time and trust before they buy.

Do I need to send photos of my booth beforehand?

Helpful but not required. If you have photos or a floor plan of your space, send them ahead of the call so we can dig in faster.

How is this different from generic booth-design advice online?

It's specific to your product, your space, and your traffic pattern, not a generic checklist. It's also informed by 29 years of actually doing this, not researching it.

What do I get afterward?

A written action plan: the specific changes to make before your next show, ranked by what will move the needle most.
